Important Guidelines

IMPORTANT EVENTS AND PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED

BAPTISM:
1. Please inform 2 weeks in advance regarding date and time of baptism.
2. Collect application form for baptism from parish priest. Forms should be filled and submitted to the vicar in advance.
3. God parents should be above 21 years and be firm catholic believers.
4. If god parents are not from our parish, they should submit letter of NOC from their respective parishes.
5. Bring candle and white cloth of infants for the baptism ceremony.
6. Immediately after baptism, please make sure, the entries are made in the church baptism register.

MARRIAGE:
1. Consult vicar to fix time and date of betrothal, immediately after fixing the proposal.
2. Before betrothal, bride/groom has to undergo marriage preparation course (MPC) and the certificate received should be submitted to the vicar.
3. Baptism certificate of bride/groom should be submitted to the vicar before the betrothal.
4. All arrears to the church should be paid and the receipts to be collected before the betrothal.
5. Marriage donation to the church must be paid before the betrothal.
6. Marriage confession must be done (kettukumbassaram).
7. ‘Kurri’ must be collected and submitted to the priest who is blessing, if, marriage\betrothal is done outside the church.
8. After the marriage the couple and the witness (one person from each side) should write their name and addresses in the marriage register and to be signed.
9. Immediately after the marriage, collect the marriage certificate from the parish and register the same as per Supreme Court rule and regulations.
10. During the Lenten season no marriage is permitted to be conducted.

SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING THE SICK:
1. If the person is in serious illness, the sacrament of anointing of the sick will be administered foe healing as well as a forgiveness of sins.
2. If conscious, the sick should be made aware of the sacrament.
3. Keep ready a cross, candle, soap, water and towel.
4. When the priest reaches, even if there is a doubt of death, the priest will administer the sacrament, presuming still life in the body. But long time after the death or when the death is for sure, the sacrament is not administered.

DEATH:
1. If anyone dies, immediately inform vicar and in consultation, decide the time and date of burial.
2. Get a letter from the parish priest requesting the grave at the cemetery, Kopri gaon.
3. Inform the trustees of the parish.
4. The deceased person’s details should be submitted to be written in church register.
5. Get two photocopies of the death certificate from the municipality to be kept in the church.
